Itchy, flaky scalp care in White Plains, NY

Comfort for your scalp, even under Sisterlocks and Brotherlocks.

Itching that will not stop, flakes on your shoulders, a scalp that burns after a retwist. I look at what is going on, care for the scalp gently and give you a routine that fits your hair, whether you are managing eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne or just a scalp that feels out of balance.

When your scalp itches, flakes or burns

Healthy hair starts at the scalp.

A scalp assessment shows me what is happening on your scalp, so you stop guessing with products that make it worse.

  • Itching and irritation
  • Flaking and redness
  • Inflammation and discomfort
  • Blocked follicles and buildup
  • A dry, oily or imbalanced scalp
  • Breakouts on the scalp
Living with a skin condition

Gentle care that fits your doctor's plan.

I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. I provide supportive scalp and skin care within my scope of practice, for clients who are managing these conditions.

Managing eczema

Eczema

Gentle cleansing and moisture for a dry, sensitive scalp, alongside your dermatologist's plan.

Managing seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis

Gentle cleansing for an oily, flaky scalp, alongside your dermatologist's plan.

Living with psoriasis

Psoriasis

Gentle scalp care for flaking and buildup, alongside your dermatologist's plan. See the AAD's scalp psoriasis self-care tips.

Prone to breakouts

Acne

Cleansing to clear oil and buildup on a breakout-prone scalp.

Locs, Sisterlocks and braids

Scalp care that works with your style.

Standard advice about washing and medicated shampoos does not always fit how locs and braids are cared for. Long wash intervals and product buildup can keep a scalp irritated, and a heavy cleanse can be hard on a fresh style.

I install and maintain locs and braids myself, so I plan your scalp care around your style, not against it. A scalp care session can be done on Sisterlocks and Brotherlocks without taking them down. Braids have to be taken down first. Thinning at the roots as well? See hair loss and scalp care. Keeping locs clean? See Sisterlocks and locs.

Your plan

Home care, plus regular in-salon scalp care for clients whose scalp issues keep coming back.

Start with the $175 basic consultation. It includes a scalp scan and is the right place to start if your scalp is itchy, flaky or irritated. Your plan may include plant-based scalp products from Kapyderm.

I work alongside your dermatologist

When to see a doctor first.

If you have a diagnosis, bring it. My care should fit your dermatologist's plan, not replace it.

See a doctor before booking, or tell me right away, if you have bleeding, open sores, pain, a rash that is spreading or sudden patchy hair loss.

Questions

Scalp care FAQ

Can you help with eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis?

I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. I provide gentle scalp care and product guidance for clients managing eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis, alongside your dermatologist's plan.

Can I keep my locs while caring for a flaky scalp?

Yes, if you wear Sisterlocks or Brotherlocks. A scalp care session can be done on both without taking them down. Braids have to be taken down first. Bring your hair as it is to your assessment, and I will plan your scalp care around it.

Why does my scalp itch more after a retwist or new braids?

Tension, products and buildup can all play a part. If the itching does not settle, or you see crusts or tenting at the roots, the style may be too tight. Book an assessment.

What is a scalp detox?

A deep cleanse of the scalp and follicles that clears buildup, so the scalp can calm down and products can reach it.

When should I see a dermatologist instead?

If you have bleeding, open sores, pain, a rash that is spreading or sudden patchy hair loss, see a doctor first. I am happy to work alongside the plan they give you.
