Hair loss and scalp care in White Plains, NY
Healthy hair starts at the scalp.
Thinning edges, shedding, a crown that feels lighter than it used to. I start where the problem usually starts, with a close look at your scalp, and then build a plan you can follow. Nothing surgical, and nothing guessed at.
Start with your scalp, not another product.
Hair loss usually has a cause. Stress, hormonal changes, traction from tight styles and scalp inflammation are common ones. A scalp assessment shows me what is happening on your scalp before you spend another dollar on the wrong thing.
- Hair thinning and excessive shedding
- Scalp inflammation or irritation
- Blocked follicles and buildup
- Dry, oily or imbalanced scalp
- Thinning edges or crown
- Breakage from scalp imbalance
Hair loss care for locs, braids and natural hair.
Most hair loss clinics near White Plains never mention locs, braids or textured hair. I install and maintain them every week, so I know what tension at the root looks like long before the edges go.
Tight styles can pull hard enough to cause traction alopecia, and the American Academy of Dermatology warns it can become permanent if the pulling goes on. Catching it early is the whole point. If your edges are thinning, I look at your style, your scalp and your routine together, and I help you change what is causing it.
You usually do not have to start over. I work around your Sisterlocks and locs or move you into gentler protective styles while I take the tension off your edges.
Every plan starts with a private consultation.
A consultation is required before any hair loss service. It is one-on-one, and it covers your concerns, your hair and skin history, your lifestyle and your goals.

I do not diagnose. I assess, care for and refer.
I hold a Master in Dermotricology, but I am not a physician. I do not diagnose medical conditions, and I work within my scope of practice. That is why the comprehensive consultation asks for your blood work and any diagnosis you already have, so my plan fits what your doctor knows.
If I see something that belongs with a doctor, like sudden or patchy hair loss, pain, open sores or a rash that is spreading, I will tell you plainly and point you to a dermatologist before going further.

Hair loss and scalp care FAQ
Is a dermotricologist a doctor?
No. A dermotricologist works on the health of the scalp, hair and skin from the care side. I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, and I refer you to a dermatologist when what I see needs one.
Can you help with thinning edges from braids or locs?
Yes, and the earlier the better. I look at the tension your style puts on your hairline, the health of your scalp and your routine, then build a plan that takes the pressure off your edges. The American Academy of Dermatology warns that traction alopecia can become permanent, so do not wait it out.
What is the difference between the $175 and $375 consultations?
The $175 basic consultation is a brief assessment with a scalp scan. It suits clients with thinning edges from tight styles, or an itchy or irritated scalp. The $375 comprehensive consultation is required before in-salon scalp care for hair loss. I review your recent blood work and any diagnosis with you, and you receive a written care plan within seven days, at a virtual follow-up.
What do I need to bring to the comprehensive consultation?
Recent blood work from your general practitioner, no older than six months, and any diagnosis you have from a medical professional. It helps me fit my care plan to what your doctor already knows.
Do I have to take my locs or braids down?
Not if you wear Sisterlocks or Brotherlocks. A scalp care session can be done on both without taking them down. Braids are different: they have to be taken down first. Bring your hair as it is to the consultation, and I will help you decide what your style and your scalp need.
How soon will I see a difference?
It depends on the cause, how long it has been going on and how closely the plan is followed. I will not promise regrowth or a timeline at the first visit. Your plan includes a maintenance schedule so I can track your progress.
