Dermotricology and Kapyderm scalp and skin care in White Plains, NY
Your scalp is skin. I care for both.
I hold a Master in Dermotricology, and Expressions is a Kapyderm USA authorized treatment center. I look at your scalp, your hair and your skin together, then build a plan of in-salon care and plant-based Kapyderm products you can follow at home.
What is dermotricology?
Dermotricology looks at the scalp and the skin as one system, because what shows up on one often shows up on the other. Instead of reaching for a product first, I start with an assessment and work from what I find.
It is the approach behind Kapyderm, a plant-based line from Laboratorios Kapyderm in Spain, and it is how I plan scalp and skin care for every client.
The scalp is skin
Buildup, dryness, oil and irritation on the scalp affect the hair that grows from it. Caring for the hair means caring for the skin underneath.
Your routine matters
How often you wash, what you use and how your hair is styled all play a part. I look at your routine as closely as your scalp.
Scalp and skin together
Dry, sensitive or breakout-prone skin can follow the same patterns as your scalp, so I look at both in your consultation.
Care for your scalp and your skin, matched to what you need.
Scalp detox and follicle cleansing
Clears buildup and blocked follicles so the scalp can breathe and products can reach it.
Regular in-salon scalp care
Scheduled sessions in the salon that support a healthier scalp over time.
Kapyderm scalp care
Plant-based Kapyderm shampoos, tonics and ampoules, chosen for your scalp, so your home routine carries on the work done in the salon.
Kapyderm skin care
Kapyderm moisturizers and emulsions for dry, sensitive or breakout-prone skin, recommended at your consultation and available in my Kapyderm shop.
All services are non-surgical and start with a consultation. Thinning or shedding? See hair loss and scalp care. Itching or flaking? See scalp care for itchy, flaky scalps.

Assess. Personalize. Support. Refine.
Assess
A private consultation with a scalp scan and a close look at your hair, scalp and skin, your history and your routine.
Personalize
A plan built on what I find, with in-salon care and the Kapyderm products that fit your scalp and skin.
Support
Regular sessions in the salon and a home routine you can keep up between visits.
Refine
I check your progress at follow-up visits and adjust the plan as your scalp and skin change.
Your consistency makes a difference.
The work in the salon only goes so far. Following your home routine and keeping your appointments is what lets the care build over time.
I will not promise a result or a timeline at the first visit. I do not diagnose medical conditions, and if I see something that belongs with a doctor, like sudden or patchy hair loss, pain, open sores or a rash that is spreading, I will tell you plainly and point you to a dermatologist.
Dermotricology and Kapyderm FAQ
What is dermotricology?
Dermotricology looks at the scalp, the hair and the skin as one system. It starts with an assessment, then builds care around what the assessment shows, with in-salon sessions and a home routine.
Is a dermotricologist a doctor?
No. I hold a Master in Dermotricology, but I am not a physician. I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, and I refer you to a dermatologist when what I see needs one.
Is Kapyderm only for hair?
No. Kapyderm makes products for the scalp and for the skin, and dermotricology looks at both together. At your consultation I can suggest home care for your skin as well as your scalp.
What does Kapyderm authorized treatment center mean?
Kapyderm USA lists Expressions as an authorized treatment center and retailer, under my name. You can check the listing on the Kapyderm USA website.
How do I get started?
Book a consultation. The $175 basic consultation includes a scalp scan and suits an itchy, flaky or irritated scalp. The $375 comprehensive consultation is required before in-salon scalp care for hair loss.
Do I have to take my locs or braids down?
Not if you wear Sisterlocks or Brotherlocks. A scalp care session can be done on both without taking them down. Braids have to be taken down first.
